Smart dollar store savings. I shop at dollar stores with coupons and get everything mainly under a dollar doing this. You can even get green cleaning supplies at Dollar General.
Paper goods and office and school supplies can also be bought at dollar stores. Save your money buying them at dollar stores instead of spending money at stationary shops. Most of the paper items at dollar stores are name brands too.
I make a price book and I use birthday money to buy stamps, envelopes, and paper to send for coupons. This is using OPM, other people's money.
I ask for a coupon clipping service coupon book for $30.00 as a present and when I get my coupons and use them it is like Christmas and my birthday all year long.
Make a giant list of things you can actually use at a Dollar Store. In order to get through our economic crisis we need to be creative in our shopping habits. Buy your party supplies at dollar stores; it’s not worth spending lots of money. After all you through them away after you have finished with them.
Take a whole day and rethink you’re buying habits and you will have more money in your pocket to use for big ticket items. You can get coupons for all kinds of things eating out, oil changes, paint, household items, etc.

Thanks for your tips Jayne, I can tell you are a big coupon user and enjoy it too. I must admit I think it is a great idea to get friends to buy you coupon books as birthday presents. Much more use than the usual gifts you sometimes get and you can use your coupons for things you really want or need.
Perhaps this is something I will look into next time I have to give a gift to someone I know who may be struggling financially. My sister for one who is finding it hard to stretch her monthly budget.
