More saving tips - Buy your clothing at the Thrift stores. I bought a couple of nice Aloha shirts at Goodwill. I often find good name brands in the thrift shops too. Brands that I couldn’t normally afford. Its nice having a few quality items in my cupboard and it’s even better when I know how little I paid for them.
Use a clothes line to dry your clothes. Air drying your clothes as often as possible not only saves on energy costs but your clothes will also smell a lot fresher.
Run a full load of dishes in your dishwasher. It’s supposed to use less energy than washing your dishes by hand. This does mean having extra sets of cutlery but the extra cost in buying these will soon be outweighed by the money saved on using the dishwasher, which is notorious at being electric heavy.
Wash your clothing in cold water and only with a full load. There are washing powders now that will clean your clothes at much lower temperatures than before. Look out for these and save on electricity bills.
Borrow books, cds, dvds from the library. If I come across a book or a CD I really like after borrowing it from the library I will then invest in buying it.
Dilute your dishwashing liquid with water, around 7 parts water to 1 part dishwashing liquid. Dishwater liquid can be very expensive so making it go further will save you money in the long run. Diluting it like this does not adversely affect its efficiency.
Use an Igloo with "blue ice" to put yogurt, ice cream, sandwich, or other snacks when you're out and about. My philosophy is KISS, Keep it Simple Stupid.
