Ink on Carpet

how do I get printer cartridge ink out of a inexpensive carpet?

When the ink is wet the first thing to do is to sprinkle some salt on it and allow the salt to soak up the ink,

If the ink is dry then squirt soda water on it then blot with paper towels.
Sponge with a detergent solution and blot again.

Hope that gets the worst of it out.
