Go Natural

For Christmas decorations go natural.

Instead of buying decorations why not find them? In the summer and Fall start collecting branches that you can then put into coffee containers and decorate,

Find pine cones and place them in bowl,

Find logs and stand them up add a candle on them and other natural items that you can use to decorate and display.

Decorate paper lunch bags and add ribbon to them for neat ways to wrap gifts.

Thanks for these great frugal tips. Christmas time can be expensive anyway and so being able to make savings on items which to be honest are frivolous extras i.e. decorations is a great idea and opportunity.

I must admit that few years ago I splashed out and bought a whole load of Christmas decorations thinking that they would last be years. but I soon found out that the whole process of sticking them up with pins or blu tack meant that when I took them down they either ripped or just started to fall apart at the seams.

So come the next year I found myself with a few strands of tatty looking decorations. I was not too please and did not want to spend more money on getting new ones.

Although I would have to think ahead with your suggestion of finding branches and cones, it is definitely something I will think about next year.

I think pine cones look great all year round, at Christmas all you need to do is add some glitz and glitter to make them Christmassy. Then at other times of the year you can add flowers in spring, green leaves in summer and dried fruits and brown leaves in autumn.

Nature has a great bounty of things to use to decorate your home. It really does give your home a wonderful warm natural feeling. I recommend it to everyone to give it a try.
