No Cook Chocolate Cake Frugal Recipes  

No cook chocolate cake, is easy to make and is ideal for the busy mum who has to put togeather a quick kids party. You know the ones, where your child comes home and announces that some of his friends are coming over for a party, (no, lucky you)

The cake is easy to make and the ingredients are not hard to get hold of and are low in cost. In fact this frugal recipe is so easy I often get the kids to make it with me.

Ingredients: (1 cake)

  • 8oz / 225g digestive biscuits
  • 3oz / 85g plain chocolate
  • 30z / 85g butter or margarine
  • 1 oz / 25g caster sugar
  • Vanilla essence
  • 1 level tablespoon golden syrup

Topping ingredients

  • 2oz / 50g butter or margarine
  • Vanilla essence
  • 4oz / 115g icing sugar
  • 2 teaspoons milk
  • 1 -2oz / 25-50g chocolate drops or other edible decoration

Crush biscuits into crumbs

Break the chocolate into pieces and put into heatproof bowl. Melt chocolate in bowl over a pan of hot water.

Add butter and sugar, a few drops of Vanilla essence and syrup and mix togeather.

Add biscuits crumbs and mix together well.

Use a 7-8inch / 18 -20cm flan ring and serving plate.frugal recipes

Fill flan ring with mixture and press down firmly.

Put into fridge and chill for several hours

To make the topping, mix butter with a few drops of vanilla essence, sift in icing sugar and mix well.

Remove flan ring and coat top of cake with topping mixture.
