Uncommon frugal living uses for cat litter.

Drying agent - Preserve fresh flowers by placing them on a bed of clean cat litter in an airtight container for 7 to 10 days.

Smell remover - To remove unpleasant smells, sprinkle cat litter granules in dustbins, fireplaces or on the floors of musty rooms. Before packing a suitcase or a trunk, leave an open top tin filled with litter inside overnight.

Oil absorber - Sprinkle litter over oil puddles and other spills on the garage floor. Leave until the fluids have been absorbed and then sweep it up. This is a good tip if you are planning to have a garage or yard sale, there's nothing worse then getting oil on your shoes and then spreading around everywhere.
