Beating the High Cost of Green Cleaning

Most of us have heard the call of "Green" living by the environmentalists. I have another call..."wise up".

A popular cleaner that runs around five dollars is made of
vinegar and water, and has about 1 pint in it. It has a "green" logo. Sounds like a great idea? It is...if you make it at home.

The way vinegar is made is quite simple. Apples boiled down into cider, then allowed to "ferment" into vinegar. It is naturally organic and you are no further ahead to buy a word that says so on the bottle. Simple as that. Vinegar is acetic acid and can be used to clean the entire household. Its properties are also anticeptic. It's smell is pleasant and not caustic.

A bottle of plain white vinegar costs about $3.00 for a gallon of generic white vinegar. It will kill e-coli and disinfectant a counter top when used straight and followed with hydrogen peroxide.

A simple Window Cleaner (and all purpose cleaner)

2 cups Water
1/2 cup Vinegar
1/4 cup Rubbing Alcohol
add to a spray bottle
Use a plain rag or newspaper to take dirt off a window or as an all purpose cleaner.

Go smart as well as green.
