I think the addition of the pineapple and the chestnuts probably make this dish a little bit special. Some of the ingredients could work out a little expensive, especially depending on where you live in the world. Here in the UK for some reason bell peppers are expensive to buy from the supermarket. However for all you UK readers, remember to check out your local street markets for these. You can sometimes buy bowls of 4 or 5 peppers for £1
If you do buy a bowl of peppers but don’t need them all at once do what I do. I chop them up and place them in the freezer to use in future recipes. This has saved me so much money especially as my partner loves bell peppers.
As for the other ingredients, look out for bulk buys on the meat and special offers on the tinned goods. This is the best way to still prepare dishes with lots of great ingredients at a fraction of the costs. The freezer is our best friend in these days of economic squeeze.
